Because of COVID-19 all services will be via telehealth.
I have been treating individuals and groups for 18 years. My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and strength based. I do not believe that abstinence needs to be a prerequisite or necessary goal for treatment. I work from a non-shaming perspective. I have expertise in substance use, trauma, depression and anxiety.
I began my career working within the court system in New York City, as a liaison and counselor, for people experiencing mental health and substance use issues. I went on to run BRC-CDCC, a ground breaking NYC inpatient program for people in crisis because of substance use and mental health issues. I trained and mentored a team of counselors and support staff who treated thousands of people a year in individual and group therapy.
I have been at the forefront of important changes made in the treatment of addictive disorders and mental health issues. I encouraged my team to utilize integrative therapies that incorporated an understanding of the complexities that patients are dealing with. I helped to define best practices with the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration, the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. I instituted trauma informed and harm reduction approaches on a grass roots level, utilizing models like Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, Urge Surfing, and Mindfulness.
